Transfer hydrogenation of unsaturated bonds in the absence of base additives catalyzed by a cobalt-based heterogeneous catalyst.

A novel non-noble Co@C-N catalytic system has been developed for catalytic transfer hydrogenation reactions. Co@C-N was found to be highly active and selective in the hydrogenation of a variety of unsaturated bonds with isopropanol in the absence of base additives.

Formation of C-C bonds via ruthenium-catalyzed transfer hydrogenation().

Ruthenium-catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of diverse π-unsaturated reactants in the presence of aldehydes provides products of carbonyl addition. Dehydrogenation of primary alcohols in the presence of the same π-unsaturated reactants provides identical products of carbonyl addition. In this way, carbonyl addition is achieved from the alcohol or aldehyde oxidation level in the absence of stoich...

Brønsted acid activation strategy in transition-metal catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of N-unprotected imines, enamines, and N-heteroaromatic compounds.

Asymmetric hydrogenation plays an important role in organic synthesis, but that of the challenging substrates such as N-unprotected imines, enamines, and N-heteroaromatic compounds (1H-indoles, 1H-pyrroles, pyridines, quinolines, and quinoxalines) has only received increased attention in the past three years. Considering the interaction modes of a Brønsted acid with a Lewis base, Brønsted acids...

Hydrogenation of Renewables

Hydrogenation reactions have a variety of applications in the chemical industry which is shown by the corresponding products, such as ammonia, methanol, and polyamides. In petrochemistry, the addition of hydrogen is used to adjust properties of product mixtures, e.g. in the hydrocracking or hydrotreating. For renewables the same is already feasible or first proofs of concept were already shown....

The hydrogenation of molecules with polar bonds catalyzed by a ruthenium(II) complex bearing a chelating N-heterocyclic carbene with a primary amine donor.

The complex [RuCp*(C-NH(2))(py)]PF(6) bearing a chelating N-heterocyclic carbene with an NH(2) group (C-NH(2)) is an active catalyst for the H(2)-hydrogenation of ketones, an epoxide, ester and ketimine in basic solution. A maximum turnover frequency of 17,600 h(-1) is achieved under mild reaction conditions (25 °C) and economical use of hydrogen (8 bar) while the TOF of a related complex with ...
